You know that moment right before you start a new house project? Where your insides are filled with glee and sparkly butterflies of anticipation? You've thought through every possible and potential issue or concern. You've bought the right tools for the job. You've got your shiznit together, all decked out in the finest scrungies your closet can afford, and you're officially ready to ROLL.
Samples are tested. You fall in love.
Paint is purchased. You dance a smug little jig.
Priming begins. Your glee can hardly be contained.
Um.....what happened here? Im sorry, does this look like a pretty plumy pink to you? Me either. Cranberry sauce, yes. Salmon, maybe. Fuchsia, not on your life.
Most certainly not amused.
Oh no! Maybe a second coat?
ReplyDeleteSadly, we tried two. Three in some spots. Trust me, it just gets uglier :(
DeleteOh noes! Please tell me you had a bottle of wine ready and your husband rubbed your feet and told you everything was going to be okay.
ReplyDelete... that's the only way some of us know how to get through DIY fails.
At least it's just paint. Paint is the easiest thing to change.
Wine...whiskey....same difference right? :)
DeleteWhen using any paint in the red family, it's best to use gray or tinted primer to match the paint... NEVER white. I'm sorry that this happened! I know you guys are far too familiar with paint issues. Someone in that paint department should have pointed you in the right direction. Also, I rely on Behr (it's thicker) than Lowe's/Valspar. Just my two cents! Don't give up! I think the fuchsia is very cool.
ReplyDeleteFuchsia is totally the direction we want to go in, but now Im terrified. This was the second time we've done something in the red family and the second time it's been awful. We tried tinted primer under our first run (back in our rental home) and had the exact same results. Boo!!
